Question by kimsewest: before washing my permed hair, can i put anything in it? serums/leave-in conditioners?
I just had my hair permed yesterday. I was told by the stylist not to wash my hair for three days, and to avoid wetting it as well, if possible. Are there any products i can use in my hair before the three days are up and i finally wash it, that will soften and shine up my hair a bit? i have an abundance of products, biosilk, matrix sleek look (i believe its a serum meant to be used once your hair is dry, only on the ends) and moroccan oil amongst other things. obviously a perm is damaging and i was aware of this before having it done, but i’m assuming after my first wash and condition my hair will feel softer, when they did the process they did not condition my hair before using the perm solution so i’m guessing that’s also a reason why it’s not as soft as it could be. also!! please, if anyone has any advice as to which shampoo and conditioners work best please let me know! i’m looking to buy something from a beauty supply store as opposed to the salon. although i dropped 100+ to get my hair done initially, i’m running low on funds at this point and need something preferably less than $ 10 a bottle. thank you!

i wouldnt suggest it, but if you really really have the feel to, check on the bottle for info on chem mixing or call the comment line for the prodoct.

I have always told my clients that they can wet their hair and use a light conditioner, nothing heavy, and light styling products. Using a little bit of Biosilk should be ok,as long as you don’t over-do it. I don’t recommend that you use anything in your hair that is designed for smoothing and straightening, such as the sleek look, before you are allowed to wash it.
After you are allowed to wash your hi, you can pretty much use any shampoo and conditioner that is designed for curly hair or chemically treated, although I do recommend salon products, as they do not leave build up on your hair.
